The memorial salyan specials, though, have a special place in my heart... after reading about how UB got his original salyan i got one off the DOTD as my first khuk.....because it just called to me. it still fits my hand like it was made for me.

Hiya Karda, for us newer folk, can you indicate where this info can be read?

Many Thanks in advance.

It was so long ago and due to oldtimers, i cant remember exactly where it was....but it's in here or on the retail site somewhere.:o I don't have search function...so it could take me quite a bit to find it. I probably should start another thread if and when i find it so as not to hijack ben's fine thread here. Unless ben doesn't mind.

IIRC in short, it goes something like this..... A dear friend of his gave UB an antique khukuri that had been in his family for generations and UB fell in love with it, due to the person who'd graced him with it, it's beauty and performance. One like it became UB's and H.I.'s signature khuk and is pictured on the H.I. site and in both UB's and Yangdu's avatar. To honor him i also included the same pic at the top of the second page in the first khuk recommendations thread.

LOve the pictures ben!.....You sure have the art of photographing khuks down pat....i wish i was able.
A very fine collection indeed!

Thanks Karda after the reply too.

You gave me more than enough info to give me a great starting point for my own research. ;)

And I admire and honour your homage to Uncle Bill and Yangdu. :)

Thanks everyone! Karda dont mind...Tedwca it's been awhile and these pics were long overdue... Bonkers Here is the link to the sales of Uncle Bill's Memorial Salyan dating back to 29JUL05...the Salyan, yep that is a special one.. the 2 very small Khukris Uncle gave to me are also special, I would have no problem selling the whole collection but those 2 along with the Salyan will never leave my home, these 2 little-big gifts from Uncle are what caused you to see all of these photos I have posted

It appears to me tonight that i may be wrong in my recollection of the story behind the salyan....and i will freely admit that it's quite possible. I am also just as sure i didnt dream it all up either.... as i know i read something to that effect somewhere, but the only thing i can find tonight is a salyan like khukuri that is over 100 years old given to Pala.
