30 year C36 Military????

Hi Riz,

Interesting concept.

My preference would be to continue the Military model with a the current Walker Linerlock. Maybe with SPY27. And not disco the version. Sales will determine that decision.

We haven't had much of a positive response with 3V, especially since 4V came out.

I would prefer to not use a RIL on our regular version.

I'll watch the thread to see the opinions of others.

I don’t know how the economics work out with SPY 27 versus CPM Cruwear or CPM Magnacut, but I am quite happy with CPM Cruwear, especially in my Crucarta Para 2. I am just now starting to use CPM Magnacut (at 65 RC and 63-64 RC), but if it pans out to be very similar to Cruwear except very stainless then I’d love to see that steel in a Military. Both of those steels are a lot tougher than S30V/S35VN/S45VN even when run at higher hardness, and are easy to sharpen to very good edges. They have wear resistance in the ballpark with S30V/S35VN/S45VN, especially when run up above 62 RC. Again, I have no idea how the economics work out, but with many models the Cruwear versions have little to no increase in costs over the base steel, so that seems good for the consumer. But if the sales would be lower for Cruwear or Magnacut than SPY 27 then it doesn’t make business sense. I will say I should also try SPY 27 I guess before asking for alternative steels, I just have been very happy with Cruwear over the years and advocate for it a lot.

Transplanted my S90V into a 2nd Gen Ti Framelock Military. I already have the ultimate version 😃
Agreed 100%

Im resurrecting this thread to beg for a 30 Year run of the C36 Military with the Walker liner lock. 1996-2026!

After re reading it, I think Cruwear and carbon fiber handles is where its at. My best performing Spyderco steel is the Cru wear Gayle Bradley 2 and Ide love a Millie in it

WHO’S WITH ME!??!

I’ve already go my “dream” C36 but I’d buy any new exclusive or Sprint that was released!

I would like a G-10 Millie with MagnaCut, either an all-black Salt version or just regular black G-10. A CF/S90V version would be amazing! Liner locks on both please. Make both of them, and I'll buy both. :)

Bento Box still shows an all black G10/Magnacut M2 Salt in stock... just sayin

Compression lock, but, still.

I have a bunch of compression lock knives. I've tried for years to like them, with little to no success. I currently carry and use exactly none of them. I don't like the cutout on the spine which creates a hot spot for me. I've been pinched and stung by the action way too many times, and I really don't like the gyrations I have to go through to unlock it. Life is too short to carry an annoyance, so I'm done with them.

Have you tried unlocking them like a back lock? I sometimes use my thumb to slide the lock over and let the choil fall onto my index finger then close the knife in a two-step process same way I do with my police 4. I have been bit by a paramilitary 2 and took a break from compression locks for all your same reasons but for some reason had to get a salt military 2 and it has never bit me. I think there is enough relief around the lock that when it pops into place it's not pinching the skin of my hand into the other side? My salt military 2 is definitely a keeper for me and I was a skeptic after having owned the original Millie.

I do close it like I do a backlock, but I do NOT let the blade fall shut. Ever. I put my index finger in the Spyderhole to control the blade and release the lock with my thumb. To do that on a standard comp lock, I have to roll the whole knife to the left, then roll it back after releasing the lock. The "lefty" version is actually much easier to operate.

Wondering if Spyderco has any of the REX76 in stock? This would be something special for Military sprint. Understand they did a great job on the PM2 heat treatment.
