$300 and under large tactical folder suggestions

Bad Monkeys are pretty nice. Cant go wrong with one (although they are a tad expensive). I had one just like the one pictured above. I just don't like the look of that tanto they have. Something about it seems off, anyone know the thought process being the point being the way it is?

I always answer this question by suggesting the Microtech Socom series. You can't go wrong with the Benchmade Presidio lineup either.

Second the Presidio, the Auto if it's legal where you are. Axis lock is... just.. yeah. The auto has a secondary safety just to make it stupidly strong.

ZTs, of course... Cold Steels, Can get 2 great Cold Steels for the $300 you're willing to dish out.

You might still be able to get an XHP Recon 1 if you're fast. I've been carrying mine for a while, and just ordered a second to sit in my knife box.

While I'm not a fan of the combo-edge in any knife, the tanto blade is usable, and it will hone to scary sharpness very easily.

Spyderco Manix XL s90v CF.

Here is a cool YouTube post about it. It has a good blade lock, and I like the shape better than some others like the Military. I don't think you could ever chip or break off the tip on the Manix model. It takes some time to resharpen but holds the edge once sharpened. Made in Golden.

Another couple of tacticals I like are the Spyderco automatics, the Citadel and Embassy, both out of production but still around.

And I'll toss in one that I really like, the Chris Reeves Umnumzaan.

You can find good reviews of each of these, and many others on YouTube that explain the various features, pros and cons, etc.

Benchmade 810 Contego. Great large hard use folder. Love the looks of those Bad Monkeys though. Other options I have are the ZT 300 series and the 0560. With the current sales these two could be a great option.

Zero Tolerance makes quite a number of sturdy tactical folders with 3.5 to 4 inch blades for $300 or less. The 0200, the 0300, the 0777, the 0600, the 0560, the 0550, the list is awesome and long.

Spyderco also makes some fine 4" folders, like the Endura, the Military, and the Police.

Benchmade has a couple that don't suck badly, but the only on in that size range that I own is a 940-1, which sounds like it might be a little small for your tastes.

You might give Cold Steel a look, the American Lawman is well reviewed but again, it might be a little small for your tastes.

I'm sure SOG has some in that size range, too, but in my experience, they rattle after very little use and it bothers me.

There are Sebenzas, of course, and Striders and Microtechs, but they are out of your stated price range.

If you aren't a steel snob, Kershaw and CRKT make some decent knives in that size and they are well below your price point. Just a thought.

Really like the benchmade bedlam but I also like the sleeker knives like a benchmade 710 or the stingray
