Ballet? One of the most manly movies of all time and you compare it to ballet?

Maybe I should have said the fight choreograpgy was amazing. Way better than the Matrix or Equilibrium. Far cooler looking than Braveheart or Gladiator.

I saw it on Friday.
Loud, violent, totally over-the-edge and completely unrealisitic... it ROCKS!
It was worth the money. If you go in accepting that you are going to see the video equivalent of a "graphic novel," you will enjoy it much more. Don't over-analyze it or make historical comparisons, or try to figure out if Bush is Leonidas or Xerxes. Just sit back and enjoy.

It was the smokin-est movie I've seen in a long time. Defintely something I'll buy on DVD and watch again.

Shame there was some dude there with his 18 month old toddler. From the time the wolf came after your Leonidas (9 minutes into the movie) and for the first 60 minutes the kid ran around, yelled, cried, kicked and was a generla pain in the ass. Being a mom it was very distracting because I was concerned he'd get hurt climbing up and down the steps in the dark so I got fed up and then went to the manager who gave me 4 free tickets and told the dude to sit in a seat with the kid and settle down or leave. He left.

Then some jerks phone rang and instead of answering it or shutting it off he let it ring but everyone else took care of him. :D

There should be a short IQ test given at the theatre door. If your IQ doesn't even reach double digits, you shouldn't be allowed in.

...that Iran is upset at the movie, because it makes persians look stupid. Must be a good movie to see :D

But its been sold out here everytime I went.

A couple brought their very young kids to the theater when I saw Matrix Revolutions. And they howled, and they sat next to me, and I didn't hurt anyone :) . (The parents deserved a beating though)

In this case, Persians make Persians look stupid, jumping up & down and screaming over a movie made from a comic book. Or maybe it's the actual history that bothers them, when they lost an easy war against an outnumbered enemy ... :p

Iran outraged by Hollywood war epic

War epic "300", a smash hit in the United States for its gory portrayal of the Greco-Persian wars, has drawn the wrath of Iranians for showing their ancestors as bloodthirsty "savages".

The press, officials and bloggers have united in denouncing the film as another example of "psychological warfare" against Tehran by its American arch enemy at a time of mounting tension over its nuclear programme.

"Hollywood declares war on Iranians," said the headline in the reformist daily Ayandeh-No of the film which tells the story of the 300 Spartan soldiers fighting off ancient Persians in the Battle of Thermopylae.

The furore over "300" is by no means the first time Iran has been left fuming over Western portrayals of its ancient history.

Iranians were also enraged by the 2004 epic 'Alexander' about the conquest of the Persian Empire and a notorious 2005 British newspaper review of an exhibition of antiquities which branded ancient Persia the "Evil Empire".

To those who say that "300" is "only a movie" and "nobody takes movies seriously" I will say but two words: "Braveheart" and "Gladiator".

Hugh, I am at a loss to understand what about Braveheart and Gladiator was taken seriously, and by whom.

All three movies referenced above are classic epics and defintely worth having in a personal DVD library.

As for Iran - woo hoo - what can we do to piss them off next? The fact that anyone would be upset over this movie is ridiculous. History is history even if this is fiction the base message is there. And it ROCKS!

In light of the current topic drift I am locking this thread. If you wish to continue the discussion please take it to PM or email.

Thank you for your understanding. :)
