Neeman, you're the winner! Send me your info and I will get this on the way to you.

Well, I've reached the 3000 post milestone, and it's time to give something back. Since I feel most at home in this forum and in the Wilderness & Survival forum, I will be doing a separate giveaway in each one. I will be losing my job next month, so it won't be fancy, but it's time to give something back. Here is the knife:

Queen Gunstock, D2 blades. I have already sharpened and used the blades, and I rounded the pointed head bolster to make it easier on the pocket.

The rules are simple - just post a picture of your favorite factory (not custom) slipjoint. At some point after 8PM next Tuesday May 11 I will choose the winner. You only need to put up the picture of the one that I would most like to add to my collection. You need to have at least 10 posts in this forum to enter.

First let me say thanks for the chance and sorry to hear about the job situation.

I know this may be considered "Custom" so if I don't get in on the giveaway it's OK. But there 100+ of these so "Limited Edition" is a better description and I can't think of a knife I like better.

That said here it is...

I'm in and I will add picture to this post tomorrow. Thanks for the chance and congrats. Sorry to hear about your job. :thumbdn:

Never used it but its one of my favs! :D

Thanks for the chance, and congrats on 3000. It's a good lookin' gunstock.

OK, Mr. Lamborghini,;)

You got me to thinkin'. Hmmm, said CJ, Lambi wants to know my favorite? I do not even know my favorite, so I had to lift the creme of the crop out of my collection. For some reason, I am a swedge addict, and love the way Case manufactured with swedges in the late 60's and through the seventies. I am a huge 70's dot fan, but also covet the pre 70's production slipjoints. So, since I was born in 65, and could not have a knife til say 78 or so, I am showing you here some of my best favorites. In the very back is a Case red bone pre 70's 6249 copperhead. I love the long pen blade on this one, and again great swedges. Rear left is a Case slimline trapper, always a favorite. This one is special to me, pre 70's and stainless steel with Tested xx etched on the clip blade. I am a big CV guy with Case, but this one wins my heart. On the right rear, is a saw cut red bone Barlow that is pre 70's also. Case does a great job with red bone. Ok, stay with me..... I am getting there. In the very front is a brown bone (almost black really) 6208 70's dot 2 blade swell center whittler. It is a great little pattern. You almost have to run your finger up and down the spine over the bump, to cherish the posession of this pattern. On the right and 2 rows back is the fat daddy of this one a 70era's dot 6383 whittler also swell center and also split back springs in dark brown bone. The small clip blade will bust your nail to get it open even if you oiled the joints. The spring on that one is a tad overdone to say the least. However, the swedges on the main clip blade is indicative of the great knives Case put out then. The tang is extremely stout on the main clip blade, and the blade is hollow ground much thinner. Now, for the choice as requested for criteria of the give away,....

1970's dot 6308 swell center whittler with dark brown almost black bone. The bone has shades of lightness due to lack of penetration of the dye. I love that when it happens! It really is my prize posession of my slipjoint collection thus far.

Here is a spine shot. I cannot imagine the skill that must go into this type of pattern.

Hope you like those pictures.

BTW Lamby,:p

I really dig Queen D2's series of knives. I loved my Canoe, but my best friend needed a knife, and I gave him that. For Christmas I got the mountain man and a slimline trapper. I did mention that I love that pattern. D2 is perfect for guys like me that wants edge retention, and truthfully ease of sharpening.

Congrats on the 3k give away from CJ.

Very generous, and good luck on the next employment endeavors, it will be better than the last. You will wonder why you stayed so long in the last place.

God Bless.

Thanks for the chance

My single favorite?
I have a list a mile long!!

Why this one?
It is my favorite camping knife
Heavy enough for wood cutting
Thin enough for food prep
Steel is sharp enough to hold an edge a long time

Congrats on the 3,000... Sorry to hear you are losing your job.
Great giveaway. Queens look like great knives, but I haven't tried one yet

I have two that are considered equally my favorites, so I had to show both..

Oohh, John, This feels like cheating, but this horn handled American/Plymouth is my favorite factory knife.

Thanks for the give away, and only requiring 10 posts....I don't know how to count them.

Lambertiana,
Very nice offer, and sorry to hear about work.
I too have several favorites, today I'm carrying a vintage Schrade Walden serpentine Jack.

When one door closes another (most of the times better) door opens.
Here she is, but the Buck stockman has been looking pretty tempting lately.

Thanks,
John

Congratulations on 3000 posts, but more importantly, thank you for all the quality information you have shared about old knives over the years. I have always enjoyed your posts...may you have many more.

And BTW, losing a job sucks but my hope for you is that it leads you to an even better job that you will enjoy.

Since I don't own any Queen knives, I will gladly accept your generous offer and put up for your perusal one of the finest spinners that I have ever seen; the Case Humpback Three Spring Whittler (G10)
