3000th post!

Hmm...a bit less interest than I'd hoped, but I guess it improves the odds of those who have taken the time to enter! C'mon guys! don't let it die!

I am still working on my review. I tend to be a bit verbose, so I am trying to cut it down:o

My EDC is my Rat Cutlery Izula. It is my favorite production knife that I've ever owned. Great steel, easy to carry, and ready for anything! I believe it is absolutely a must-have for any outdoorsman.

Without the benefits of a saw, the Vic Supertinker is not a great outdoor knife, but it is ideal for every day carry at home or on the job. It is a three-layer, 3-1/2” knife that is small enough to carry in the pocket…unlike some other models which I feel are too thick for pocket carry.

The first advantage of the Supertinker is the two blade system, this is especially important when dealing with a blade steel that is not famous for keeping it’s edge, but is better known for being fairly easy to sharpen. I keep a lower angle bevel on the larger blade for utility work, and keep the smaller blade razor sharp for fine work.

The two slotted screwdrivers and one Phillips head screwdriver are handy for many jobs around the house and workplace. Being more of a beer drinker than a wine drinker, the loss of the corkscrew in favor of the Phillips was no loss to me. After all you still have a bottle cap lifter!

As many of you know, the Victorinox scissors are tough to beat. In daily use, the scissors are the #2 used item for me, second only to the main blade. The awl is a nice tool to have when you need it, and does see occasional use as well.

The only tool I would like to see replaced is the bale hook. I do not carry a lot of paint cans or boxes tied with string, so I find this of little use, and wish it had been replaced with the small chisel/scraper available on the Ranger, Handyman, and Craftsman models.

The Vic Supertinker, a great EDC for around $20!

Woohoo...it's Friday, can't wait to see who wins!

Great idea for a contest.

I haven't gone a day in 3 years without my Benchmae MiniGrip 555 pictured here
benchmade555s.jpg
NOT MY PICTURE

The compact size is perfect to clip into my pocket without taking up all my pocket space. I don't carry any other knives because I feel that for my every day rural/city use this is perfect.

First, the pocket clip hasn't broken or bent on me like all the Bucks and Kershaws I used to carry. This a big plus for me

Second, the grip and feel of this knife is small, but feels good in my big hands.

Third, the serred edge comes in real handy when cutting rope/twine.

Fourth, the 440C steel is easy to sharpen. It may not hold an edge forever and a day, but I would rather swipe it across a stone here and there to touch it up when needed.

Fifth, I really like the ovil thumb hole. It makes for easy opening.

Sixth, and this is crucial, the AXIS lock has never failed on me. The day it does is the day I throw it away. I won't carry something I can't trust.

Great stuff guys! That's what I like to see! Not much longer to go before the lucky winner is announced, so get your entries in!

Just giving everyone the heads up that I'll be selecting the winner tomorrow night when I get home from work! Last chance to enter! You'll have until around 9-10 pm to make any final posts or revisions. :)

Thanks for playing everyone!

My EDC knife is my Rat Cutlery Izula. It was hair shaving sharp upon arrival. It's specific purpose is that of a concealed carry knife/neck knife or that of a survival blade. The kit comes with a MOLLE Lock, which fastens on my 5.11 Tactical Push Pack brilliantly. My primary use is for CCW/Self Defense. Without the Molle Lock attached, it goes inside the waistband, and no one knows it's there. My advise is to keep it as an EDC knife, and if something drastic comes up and you are forced to survive out in the wilderness, then the IZULA will not let you down.
