The teachers lesson.....
As all you can tell by his avatar, Tin is interested in shaping minds at a particular university. My question he answered brings up the point I should have been keeping better records on my knives....something we all could do a better job on.....Now you say I only have 5, 8 or 17 knifes, 'not enough to worry with record keeping.' Wrong, you or eventually someone you love, will want to know the how, when, where, and even the how much of those dozen knives.
Don't put this off, scoff and say not me I only am a EDCer. Get a small spiral bound notebook of index cards, or some bound notebook. Mark on it MY KNIVES. Write down in some orderly way all of each of your knifes details, don't use red or light colored marker pen, they fade. Use pencil or fine tipped Sharpie pen. Then if it gets wet it will survive.
Then unlike me who has started this late - after getting my polypearl 303s - you could have looked up in you card record and told me the one you have came in the regular Buck box. You can get as fancy as you like using photos and computer, just be sure to always have some type of failsafe backup or hard copy. Lightning does strike the entire N American continent......
I have seen several folks records that are knowledgeable Buck Forum contributors, Mr. Larry Oden even has a traveling index card box of his knives, he can in a moments notice pull it from his bag and give you a detailed answer of your question using that record.
Again, DON'T PUT THIS OFF, start now. Don't be surprised if you hear this again at a BCCI seminar or in a newwletter.......Start now.
