Figured I would let you rats know that the 311 is in the Scrapyard store for preorder!

Overall Length: 8" Blade Length: 3 1/2" Thickness: Approx: 3/16" Steel: SR-101 / 58-60 Rc Handle: Resiprene C Blade Width: 1 1/4" Grind: Flat Saber Finish: Black Shipping and Handling $14.95

Arrived today. Very comfy in my XLarge hands. The grips seem a tad larger than the 511, I mean really they feel a little more spacious.

Hmm... I suppose so... I mean, why not?? :D

I see they changed the handle... A lot

Yes, they did. The more I look at the 311, the more I like my Mud Puppy. :)

How much do I like my Mud Puppy? This much:

         (9 on a scale of 10). :D

The Mud Puppy's mudder grips, 3/16" blade thickness, FFG, perfect balance and 154CM steel make it a real sweetheart of an EDC. Add a custom kydex sheath like the one Jeff made me and it's close to perfection. That's why I rated it 9 out of 10.

Darn it...I really didn't want to spend any more money. But I have the rest of the series and I have a problem where I like collecting things in series. And on top of that I don't have a fixed blade that is around that size. I guess I will be ordering one soon. At least it wasn't the 911 with a $140ish price tag (that price is purely a guess based on the other three in the series). I do appreciate the heads up though, I have missed some Busse kin knives because I don't check their sites regularly.

For me, mudders were comfy but at the same time I felt like they restricted my grip. I dont mind em. But I like the basic handle more. To each his own!

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA????!!?!? Wheres the mudder handle???

I like that bladeshape more but wheres the mudder?!!?!?!?!!?!?

So true. The small Res-C handle is too tight for comfort in my medium-sized hands. I sold all my Bussekin knives with small regular and basic Res-C handles for that reason.

The 1/4" thickness definitely seems like overkill to me at that length, at least the Rodent 4 is a big longer. I still would rather both of them be thinner for the work they would end up doing.

I agree. It would be interesting to come up with a list of tasks you'd be better off using a 1/4" thick blade for than, say, an 1/8" thick blade on a 3-1/2" frame. About the only thing I can think of would be tasks you'd ordinarily use a chisel for. I've got a few short-bladed knives in 3/16" thick stock (including a Mud Puppy and a Dozier KM-5 Bodyguard) and they're absolute hosses for their size. I can't imagine needing anything thicker than they are for even extremely hard use.

So it would appear that what I actually was looking forward to was a black mud puppy... This one is a "maybe" for right now :)

Order is placed. Looks like a winner to me. Is the handle going to be like the 511 or like the 711?

Based on the overall length of the knife, it would be the small Res-C handle like the one used on the 511.
