311 released at the Yard. In hand pics inside.

Based on the overall length of the knife, it would be the small Res-C handle like the one used on the 511.

That's what I was afraid of. I just think the 511 handle is a little on the small side for most people. Maybe in between the 511 and 711 would be the perfect size? Oh well, getting one anyway to see what I think.

Hey guys bumping because the Big Dog said the thickness is actually 3/16" thick!

Sweet! I'd have passed at 1/4". Need to order a 3 and a 7, but the Gun Show is this weekend. What do do, what to do:)

I'd be in for a couple myself If we could talk Dan into making the 311 (or at least a variant of the 311) with mudder grips. One way or the other, I'll be interested to see the results of the 311 vs MP performance tests. Other than the difference in their alloys (SR101 vs 154CM), they now appear to be roughly equivalent knives.

The 311 is 3/16 thick and not 1/4". My web guy must have had the bottle open The web site will be changed as soon as he sobers up to reflect the 3/16 inch thick blade

It was a tough decision on the small res handle or the war dog. We put it to a vote with the production team and decided on the small res handle since it gave a much better feel. As you know I am a huge fan of the mudder handle but the balance was just not right so you now have what I believe is the best combination of feel and balance. You can also expect to see the War Dog handle on other potential knives in the future since I realliy like the design and feel.

Interesting. The balance on the MP is absolutely perfect with mudder grips. The knife mudder grips didn't work on was the Scrapper 5. The blade was too heavy for the handle . . . or at least it was for me.

I wonder why mudder grips work with the MP and not with the 311, especially when those knives are so close to the same size? Oh well. I guess it doesn't matter. What's done is done.

The 311 and MP blades aren't really that similar in shape. The have similarities but they are pretty diverse to me.

Looks similar to my Scrap Yard Keeper CG. Since I've got it I'll hang onto it.

Perhaps. But I'm not sure I understand how that would relate to which type of handle to use. If the war dog handle was a contender for the 311, I'd think the mudder handle would have worked, too. In any event, the decision was made to go with the small Res-C handle. And that's that.

It looks similar, but looks can be deceiving. The 311 is constructed of SR101 and the YKCG is constructed of SR77. SR101 takes and holds an edge better than SR77, advantages which are particularly useful in a utility knife/EDC. So if it were me, I'd sell the YKCG and use the proceeds to buy a 311.

Arrived today. Very comfy in my XLarge hands. The grips seem a tad larger than the 511, I mean really they feel a little more spacious.

So are they shipping already? Mine are probably later in the line, I was hesitant when the thickness was thought to be .25 inches.
