315's 315th post GAW

I am going to say "Not in" because I have recently won a GAW, but I always like to participate. And I especially want to take the opportunity to say that while you may be new here I certainly have found you to be a welcome addition to the porch. :)

View media item 456This picture isn't particularly knife related, but it is one of my favorite landscapes. It is Fort Rock Oregon. It is the caldera of a marr from back when that valley was filled with an ice-age lake. The lake was so big and deep that the waves of the lake are what opened up the side of the formation. It is a cool spot.

That's some pretty impressive geology. Is it accessible to the public? If so, it may be worth a little road trip south!

It is indeed open to the public, it's a park. You can hike around inside it. And there is parking so you don't even have to do a big hike out to it. I like the area a lot, and the small town there has a friendly bar called the Watering Hole. I've done some archaeology not too far from there which is how I became familiar with the area. The world's oldest running shoes are actually from there. The Fort Rock sandals are 10,500 year old shoes made from sage brush!

Great GAW - I'm in - Thanks! There are some awesome outdoor pictures so far. This is a little more mundane. My daughter made me build her an herb garden. She says Magnolias keep the rabbits out. (I don' know if that really works, but it makes for a great backdrop).

I'm in! :cool::thumbsup:
Here's one of the most recent outdoors photos I've taken, almost 2 months ago. It's my backyard, taken from the detached garage behind our house, looking across the snow piles I'd shoveled up. It's followed by the sort of outdoors scene I MUCH prefer: Upper Tahquamenon Falls in Michigan's Upper Peninsula in August.

I’ve not entered a GAW in quite a while. I’ve had the good fortune of winning several in my time here on the Porch. But I think I would like to enter this one so, “I’m In!” This is an awesome sight to see in person. I would recommend anyone that ever gets the opportunity to visit our nations capital to do so! :)

Congratulations on your upcoming eponymous post number milestone! It’s good to have you here with us on the porch.

This is a bench on a beach in Pacifica, California. Or is it a misplaced diving board? Or perhaps the base of a rustic, but incomplete catapult? Or...

I’m in, please. Thank you for your generosity and for your contributions here.

Good luck to all those who participate.

I am in and this is a photo taken at the NRA Whittington Center. Specifically the High Power Silhouette range. There is the white Buffalo target in the upper left corner. It sits a little more than a kilometer out from the firing line. I zoomed in on the chicken line. The buffalo does not look that large from the firing line. Ignore the ugly guy in the second photo. If you look over the ugly guy's shoulder you can see what the white buffalo really looks like from the firing line. It is a lot of fun to hit!

Some great photos guys! Especially of the snow. I grew up in Wisconsin and do miss having snow more frequently in the winter, just not as much as what you guys got!

Picture from the blind on a morning pig hunt after stalking with night vision the night before... I’m in.

Josh, did you get any pigs?

Sure enough did!
Got these two stalking at night with night vision( not very traditional I know, but very effective)

Got this little one from that stand the evening before, used the Steingass to clean it.

The Paluxy River is one of my favorite places to hike and fish.

It’s most famous for these but the wade fishing is awesome.

Great GAW. Not an entry as I've recently won a GAW and the Mr Knife box. I look forward to seeing what the turnout is ;)
