316 stainless question

The 300 series tends to be "gummy" in machining. The easiest one is the free machning grade 303. 316 would be a bit tougher as it has added Mo for corrosion resistance.
416 is the free machining grade of 410 and the two are heat treatable. 416 is definitely easier to machine than anything in the 300 series.
