Hi,
I just got in some 316 SS .003 thick:grumpy: I ment to order .030 thick for spacer material.:o Should I return it to msc ind supply or is there any use for me to make damascus in the future. The stock cost $40. inc shipping. I should of had my glasses on.

There isn't much use for 316SS in knifemaking other than possibly spacer material as you mentioned. Even at that, most folks will use 303/304 or 410/416 for that and guards.

I don't believe you would find a use for it for making pattern welded steel.

One thing you could do with it being that thin would be to sandwich it between vulcanized spacer material and make spacers out of it that way. Actually, doing that looks pretty good.
