Loving the mailman lately

Bill, it is not easy to find a early 317 with it's original sheath in decent shape. So, good work. Will you carry that 317?
That stamp was only used in 1972 and it should have the model # on the back side of the main blade. That year Chuck Buck wrote in an advertising the 300 series knives now have a strong pivot pin, ect.. Indicating the switch from Schrade
made knives to the Camillus contract knives. DM

Good find Bill, very nice Buck knife. That is the only style case I've ever seen for the 317 - I'm sure the differences are in the small details. OH

Bill, I bought my 317 at a gunshow in Fayetteville probably six or seven years ago - it was still NIB after many years of life - you never know. OH

It looks original to me and in very good condition. A lot of owners carried those in their pocket. I see bikers with them strapped on in the
sheath at truck stops. The Trailblazer was a popular model. It can handle any cutting chore and it has 2 blades with a lanyard hole. A lot
going for it. DM

Even though it is decent shape If I sent it to Buck for a spa treatment just to have it polished up and sharpened would it hurt the value any?
My guess is no?

nice finds there.

the 317 sheath is the same size as the 110, correct? if so id use a 110 new one and save that original just cause.....collector value and all. if that matters at all to ya...if not the original looks like is gonna do well for many many years of use......

The 110 sheath does not work. 317 is 1/4 bigger. I have used a really well worn 110 sheath that the flap has enough stretch in it to work. Also IMO I would send it to LR for sharpening and cleaning up. That sheath looks mint and LR will make the knife mint.

Not according to Blades Guide To Knives, pg. 510. Buck changed the stamp in 1973 to incorporate the model number. DM
