I believe they would but I think you would be limited to a shade of darker blue or black.Anyone know if those g10 handle scales would take and hold dye?
That's the idea, although that blue is really great and sure to be a hit, I like it and I'm not a color "blue" guy. I think black on black might make me consider getting one of these...I believe they would but I think you would be limited to a shade of darker blue or black.
The black would stay on the outer most layer, if it scraches the blue could be reviled but that make a very interesting wear over time might be kind of neat. That's the idea, although that blue is really great and sure to be a hit, I like it and I'm not a color "blue" guy. I think the dlc coating looks great!
That bottom picture is cool the way the light is hitting the swedge it looks like it isn't dlc coated.
I hear ya on the price, but I was unable to resist its charms anyway. Broke down and ordered one.Good looking knife. I love blue scales and have been considering a 319 for a while. If this was something other than S30V I would likely pick it up, but as it is it's not unique enough for me to drop $140 on it.
What's the matter with S30v, and what kind of tasks would you be using this for? LolGood looking knife. I love blue scales and have been considering a 319 for a while. If this was something other than S30V I would likely pick it up, but as it is it's not unique enough for me to drop $140 on it.

A knife this size is usually tasked for smaller things like opening packages, food prep etc.
Also, I think the price is on par with other traditional knives. BUT, this uses a supersteel like S30v vs. traditional that use carbon steel... just sayin

Neither are legal in L.A. county to carry. 3 inch limit here unfortunately. Part of why I want a Mini 940 and plus it just makes sense, like the Mini Grip and others that are mini versions.
Depending on what you read, people debate the "super steel" classification. I would agree with all the new steels now out, it's position has slipped, but I would be very interested in how you determined it's an average used to make "low-end knives of most manufacturers". I've looked for such data, but haven't found it. It's still used on some fairly expensive and custom knives, and is a rare find on a low end knife. Looking @ Blade HQ, paying attention to what's currently available (as their search tends to show every iteration they've ever sold, even if no longer available or still in pre-order) there are only ~140 knife models currently available with S30V. Of those, prices range from $45 to $850. Only 11 are below $100, with most being in the $115-$200ish range, obviously depending on size, other materials, etc. There are over 1400 knives currently available UNDER $100 (again, with only 11 having S30V).S30V is in no way a supersteel. It's an average steel that is used to make the low-end knives of most manufacturers, and the "high end" knives from companies like Buck and Gerber.

As far as being average, feel free to peruse this thread: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...ed-on-edge-retention-cutting-5-8-rope.793481/
You can see that after reading the first post, S30V is actually below average compared to other steels that are offered by the same manufacturer (in factory knives).
As for your search results, mine showed much different numbers.
In the end, if you are vehemently defending S30V, that totally your preference, and I won't tell you where to not spend your money. The "meh" reaction to S30V is not limited to this forum. If you go to their facebook and instagram, there are plenty of people asking why these "special edition" knives feature the same bland steel that the original knife had.
I received one of these new Propers in the mail today. Sadly, it will be shipped back to the dealer tomorrow. The G10 is simply too slick. I mean like glass slick. I had a red G10 version out of the first run and sold it for the same reason. I loved the look of the blue on black so much I decided to try the G10 again. Sadly, still a no go for me.
I absolutely love my micarta Proper though. It's a regular carry for me. I love micarta. It provides a nice texture/feel and looks even better as it ages.
Benchmade -
I'd respectfully ask why the G10 wasn't given at least some texture? I love the look of this knife and the fit & finish was excellent. The edge was awesome. I mean I love everything about it other than the feel of the G10.
I'd also like to make a suggestion / wish list. Make this same knife - black DLC blade Proper but instead of G10 use blue denim micarta.
