(By the way, is anyone other than Uncle and me old enough to remember what spinned at 33 and 1/3rd revolutions a minute?)

That's the happy way we talked since the last century. I love every thread!

33 1/3 revolutions a minute, I guess that's some kinka political issue about South America? Or was it more?

I'm not old enough to "remember" it, but the number is familiar. I'll guess one of the satellites sent up into space.

That's 100 RPM's divided by 3

Come on, are you guys trying to be funny? That's how fast a standard LP spins at. Pardon me if I'm too dense to see the joking, it happens to me all the time!

Tulsamal,
We're just being smartasses...or dumbasses depending how you look at it.

I remember records quite well. The first one I ever bought was Dead Man's Curve by Jan and Dean.

Heck, when I was a kid, my mom and dad had a closet full of 78's....some only had grooves on one side and weighed a ton. But I'm only 46, unlike the "elder statesman" Rusty who has reached his fifth decade.

If I had of known I was gonna live this long I woulda took better care of myself.

I remember when I was a kid down in Texas that our neighbors had one of those old radio phonographs that took the 78 rpm records. Only thier's had a microphone and you could cut your own records on it. I remember thinking that was pretty cool back then.

I don't know how long ago it was, but when I got the stereo before the one I now have, I had my choice of two players I liked that were identical except that one had a turntable and the other a cd. From what I'd heard, cd's were still too expensive, so I got the turntable ( It also had a couple cassette decks ).

I hadn't been to the record store in a few years, so I went there looking for a couple new records. They had thousands of cd's, and about 25 vinyl albums. Total. And yes, as a matter of fact I did feel like I'd been incredibly stupid and was aghast that things had changed so quickly.

:
Bro when I got the big Kenwood that can break the windows if turned way up and the bass turned high I got both the cd player and the phonograph tables. Since I already had about 200 or so albums there was no sense in letting them go to waste.
I figure that I can set on the albums a few more years and possibly get enough out of them to finally get the Big Screen TV!!

Anyway, Uncle Bill needs to update his signature to reflect the second archive that we now have, and the total of well over 30,000 posts in the archives alone. We were the second most active forum after General Blade Discussion and I believe we still are. That ought to be made plain, so folks will wonder why and check us out.
