I just added 11 new blocks of Ancient Bog Oak to our web store. These blocks were cut from a log that was carbon dated to be 3400 years old.
All of these blocks are oversized so they can be used for large handle knives or possibly for a matching pair of smaller handle knives.
These blocks were professionally stabilized by K&G (Knife & Gun Finishing Supply in Arizona).
The blocks are cut quarter sawn so each one shows some figure. Even though they were all cut the same way and from the same log, they all look different.
Really nice dark gray/black coloring with a good luster that causes the rays and flecks to light up as the light hits from different angles.
