$349.00 for an orange g10?!?!

Well, they were $329 a year ago before they sold out.

Edit, sorry that was "previously owned"

These came out in 2009-2010 first as a sprint run and then a production model. I don't think you can tell the difference.

Personally, collector piece or not, it's not worth $350 for S30V and G-10. These days you can get the S110V and G-10 for $174.

I sent my fiance a link to a certain folder I've been looking at for months, the price tag in CAD was roughly 750.00

She didn't get the idea of it at all. She basically dismissed the idea of a knife that is that expensive as ludicrous. She did say we will have to wait until after the wedding for purchases like that.

It got me thinking (and to get to my point) in the folder scene these days it's relatively not that expensive, which is kind of crazy when you think about it. 2-3 folders and you're over a grand!? I'm my worst enemy cuz I'm a bit of a tool snob.

To me it feels like the prices have jumped 30-40 percent since I got into the game. I wish I would have kept my spidies that I sold, that now cost double compared to what I sold them for. Hindsight is 20/20.

To sum it up, I guess I don't really have a point except that I too have noticed and felt the sticker shock.

Sorry for the rant.

$349 for S30V and G-10 is something I wouldn't go for, and I'm a big spyderco fan.

yep. saw that realized real quick the prices folks will pay aka the market is way out of whack and has been for awhile. no offense to bladehq...they are working on market values. always been a great dealer for me.

Hard to argue with that opinion.

Maybe if it had different steel. But I can make my own orange peel ply g1p scale for the military

I got an S90V Millie off high pricing BBS for way less than that.
Cant help the comparison coming to mind, I just pre-ordered a Cruwear Para2 Sprint at what I thought was a reasonable price. Now I really think it was at a reasonable price.

Neither would I, but collector value and practical value are two entirely different things. Any resemblance between what a specific Spyderco is worth to a collector who specializes in a specific model and "needs" that specific variant to fill a void in their collection and it's value to you or me is purely coincidental.

I'll admit, I was both a tad disappointed and a tad relieved when I clicked on that link. Being it was BHQ, I was halfway expecting that Military to be an auto conversion, in which case I may have considered orange G-10 and S30V to be worth the asking price. ;)

My advice for him would be to get what you can before the wedding because he won't be getting much of anything after the wedding, lol.

Guessing her ring cost more, and she can't open the mail with it. ;-)

I look at it like this If you can afford to have a $350 folder to sit in a draw and can get same $ for it later or cash just sitting there with no possibility of neeeding it then yeah.

"You'll never get dis! You'll never get dis! ...

Then one day he gets it!

It sure did, unfortunately she does not see it this way.

It's overpriced, sure, but if you're a Military collector, it may be the missing piece of your collection. I still wouldn't pay that, but I don't have a Military collection going.
When was the last time you saw that particular sprint for sale, on forums or anywhere?
It's from a private collection, and BHQs prices on those are always (at least) double whatever they paid for it.
