$349.00 for an orange g10?!?!

I got this E-mail also. I just see why it's so much? I'd get someone on BF to make me custom orange scales if I really wanted it and still keep the price below what they are selling these.

That might work for you or me. Heck, I'm left handed and hate the look of peel-ply, so if I wanted an orange G-10 Military I'd have custom corrugated orange G-10 scales made up for my lefty version. However, to a collector looking for the specific Military variant that BHQ is selling, an after-market mod using custom orange scales would not fill that niche. At best they'd see it as something they could use as a placeholder, until the "real deal" could be found, At worst, they'd consider it an attempt at fraud and no less a counterfeit than one of the cheap Chinese clones.

And here I am having just sold my old orange beater for $80 lol

Neither would I, but collector value and practical value are two entirely different things. Any resemblance between what a specific Spyderco is worth to a collector who specializes in a specific model and "needs" that specific variant to fill a void in their collection and it's value to you or me is purely coincidental.

The orange PM2 in CTS-XHP with DLC-coated blade (C81GPORBK2) was also a quick seller. Collectors seemed to go quite mad for that orange g10 and prices went through the roof for a while... Not all that unusual...we now see it in the prices of orange HAP40 Spyderco folders...

Yeah, you can always push the "investment" angle too. I thought it was working with my wife, until she finally said oh cut it out, the investment thing only works if actually ever sell anything. Lol

Bah, it doesn't even have any teeth! ;)

And for the Deacon, some nice Anso sculpted orange G10 scales from Steve Ketchen :)
