#35 Beer and Sausage Bar Tool Knife

I doubt vey many get modified...most of these won't be users so that's keeps them out of the universe of knives to be modified and those who are concerned about value BUT still plan on using likewise won't modify. I bet less than 20 or so...if that many get modified. Over the several years TCs were made, how many were modified? Probably well less than 50 and most of those were the BF version....AND the mods typically on TCs were adding crown lifters not subtracting blades. Again, I'm back to the beanie baby analogy...people are not buying because this is a great knife (it might be, we just don't know yet), they are buying because of the hype.
Everyone talking about nodding these is trying to get a rise out of guys like me who want one to use and dont have one locked down.

I really dont think very many people will do much but sit on these if they're not users.

I’m hoping/planning to get my hands on a couple of these, and I’ll most likely have someone more skilled than myself remove the silly comb. Without it, I think it’s an interesting knife, obviously not the same as the Beer Scout, but a fun companion to it. With the comb? Silly. (Just my opinion, of course.)

I’m not sure your point about modifying TC’s is a fair comparison, as Charlie/GEC never made a TC Barlow with a beard comb. Whether you love it or hate it (or are indifferent about it), I don’t think you can deny that the so-called BRRT is one of the strangest and least-traditional “blades” GEC has ever added to a knife. :D

The comb is AWESOME, Barrett!

I acknowledge it's a divisive knife ;) Maybe 50:55 and as such it's no bad thing.

Certainly there are those eager to receive their order, some will keep them but I might suspect many will fall into neglect as 'conversation pieces' When the word novelty knife is used, a big no no bell goes off in my head, the whimsy aspect does not appeal. Moreover, making novelty knives, an exercise in kitsch, could possibly impact on GEC's credibility. Above all, it's a wasted opportunity on an interesting frame, doubtless GEC will produce other more credible variants, at least I hope so...

Let's make it clear, knocking the knife has nothing to do with knocking those who are delighted by it or are eager to order one. I do suspect FOMO plays a role as the Net/ SM has clearly fuelled a frenzy about GEC knives being the ones to have from people not usually into Traditionals, there is also the alleged rarity and thus hope for inflated prices secondhand. Rather like various brands of sneakers that are about to 'drop' and are immediately sold on to credulous fashionistas at massive profit:rolleyes:

It's as though anything GEC puts out now will be seized upon and lapped up uncritically in some quarters; and yes not so long ago buyers could ponder their choices a while; but this has been eclipsed by everything being sold out before you finish your drink:eek: Good for GEC's business but it's often irrationality on the part of buyers. This pattern sounds like a joke gone very far, GEC may well be astonished by it but obviously they've realized it has sales potential. Imagine a person being OK about knives or even interested in more Traditional types, they ask what's your newest knife/what's that for? The delighted owner replies " This is a Bar Tool Knife! One nice blade, a fork for pickled stuff, sausages etc, and a comb for my beard or so I can groom my Hipster customers' beards! All in rust attracting carbon-steel moreover:D":eek: As Cockneys in London might say " You 'aving a Bubble??" (bubble-bath- laugh)

Thanks, Will

Yeah but they say barf which rhymes wiv larf...how ironic.
I do need to point out that the term "flipperbait" was coined my me.
It is therefore and heretofore notwithstsnding legally and comensurately my intellectual property*. Thatmentioned and in compliance under any statutory authorities universally and all encompassing...now legallly avsilable for all to make use of in the neverending fight for truth ,justice and the American way ...of those opposed to flipping good quality knives.

* stretched to the breaking point of the word.

:D

Meako, you are correct and stood by your opinions by commissioning your very own SFO against Flipping by holding an ultra generous GAW with a very credible knife as prize:cool::thumbsup:

yes not so long ago buyers could ponder their choices a while
It has been 3 weeks since these were announced, tis this not time to ponder?

I passed on the epc 62, the 23, and the 33. I had plenty of time to make that decision before they were sold.

The reserve went up and was gone before we even knew the spring arrangement. Definitely not time to ponder.
3 spring whittler pattern, that information has been out there for 3 weeks as well.

Increased demand due to flipping is really irritating and makes the buying process extremely difficult and a general pita, but i submit that hearing the incessant complaining about them is equally insufferable, how is that chatter not discussing the buying process take it to whine and cheese please
