3M Trizact belts, when are they worn out?

I've been using 3 belts for years now, I blow them out with the air hose. (With the belt running I use the air hose with a fine hole blower and blow them down till all the dust is out of them and right back to grinding.) If I had known that they would last this long I wouldn't have bought 50 of each to start with.

Hi Good Day, I am new to this forum. I am Augustine from Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia.
I operate a Zinc die casting company,we polish / buff and electro-plate on Zinc die cast components.
I have been using Trizact for a few years,we control our process of polishing by the area & pcs / Trizact belt.
I am looking at increasing the Qty / belt ,how do i control this ? Is there any wax which can be applied to remove the residues from the belt ? Any method to check ? Since most of you are in the Knife industry,do you know how much surface area has been polished before we scrap the belt.

I would contact 3M directly with your questions. Trizact belts, at least the structured abrasive type, would not be my first choice for snagging zinc castings. We use them primarily for grinding hardened steel. I would anticipate that a soft metal like zinc would load them rather quickly and require dressing to keep them cutting.

I also recommend calling or emailing 3M tech services. They are great folks.
I am closing this old thread.
