So I'm working on my 3rd knife this is actually my first knife that I've made on a belt grinder. My first was made with a file and the second one I cheated and used a surface grinder at work. Overall I'm happy with it however I had to spend a good bit of time hand sanding to get the grind line nice and straight. But anyway I noticed these two songs on the flat right at the ricasso. The blade hasn't been heat treated yet so I'm not sure if I should grind the whole thickness of the knife down?

Nice work

Keep us posted on the progress

Difficult to tell how deep thy are. You should be able to flat sand/grind them out. I'd they are deep, just remember to take off the equal amount from the other side. Your grind lines will drop a bit depending on how deep you need to go.

I think that's a chisel grind.

Yeah they're not as deep as it seemed I got the first one of looks like a couple thou to go for the other one.

Alright, I'm calling your bluff- THAT is not your 3rd knife...I'm guessing 15th maybe? ;P

Jokes aside, if you have access to a surface grinder still, maybe grind off a few thou. on each side until the gouges are gone?
Nice work on those grinds by the way, they're really nice!

Wow thank you. To be fair I work with metal for a living so I had a pretty good head start.
