A big thank you to Stan for allowing me to hang out and share his experience with me. It helps.
Thanks to Jamie and others for a fantastic grinder in a box.

Nice knife. I especially like the curvature of the handle the the micarta looks to melt into the tang very nicely.

Thats better than my 200th knife...

Thank you. I have to give you credit for the inspiration. Your knives appeal to me. Functional with clean lines.

I have learned alot from the people on this forum, so thank you.

The grinder is on of Jamies "Grinder in a box" Still in the supplies for sale section. I bought the motor and VFD from Rob at Beaumont, as well as the small wheel attachment.

I think it's a great looking knife. It looks extremely functional.

As for your 3rd knife, that's awesome!

Looks Good Porter,Glad to help out.Now watch Chucks video and get some pants made for it.

Watched one DVD already. Tandy leather is all I have now. Already made a template and have cut out the sheath. Welt is glued in place. I do not have time yet to get the remaining leather tools I need, so I'll make do with the ones I have. It will be done soon! Thinking of a loop on either side set up for horizontal carry.

Its how I learned too. Please feel free to post pics of your work in my forum. I'd like to be able to see the progress.

You can get by with a lot of improvised tools for leatherworking. To set stitches, for example, I used a fork for the longest time. I just bent two of the tines out of the way and pushed the remaining two into the leather to keep my drills same distance apart.

Sweet looking knife.... the tip profile looks just right... you hit a home run with that design.

Thank you. I redrew, (is that a word?) the blade shape 4 or 5 times until it felt right. I have admired your work along with many other talented makers on this forum.

How does one get that oh-so-slight curve at the apex of the plunge, is it done on the grinder or with files/sandpaper? I see that on a great deal of knives and I can't mentally picture how it's done. On a belt grinder all I see (in my head) is the belt cutting in and making a sharp 90 degree corner rather than a nice smoothed rounded one.

This was done on a 2x72 belt grinder, on a flat platen
The curve at the top happens naturally, unless you grind over the top of the spine. Did that on my first knife. I was shown how to run the belt over the side of the platen to get an even larger radius to the top of the plunge grind, but have not tried that yet.
