Sorry, been out learning how things are done, lol.
I do like the zirc habaki, I see it as a really good step in an interesting direction.
It's not that it would look "better" thinner, but it would look more "correct" if the habaki "almost" lined up with the spine and right under the edge, so that looks a "bit" clunky.
You are absolutely to be applauded for NOT settling for "good enough" or SOS, but continuing to refine your aesthetic and fit.
