Hi guys,
I've been playing around with Sketchup CAD and this is one of the profiles that I came up with. It's 5/32" 3V steel from Aldo that I put together with a resin cast pinecone. I've been waiting for the right knife to put it on and I think it pairs well with this profile. It comes with a hand tooled leather sheath.
Specs:
OAL: 9.5"
Blade: 4.5" full flat grind, 1 1/2" wide, 0.01" thick before sharpening, satin finish with 600 grit cork belt
Steel: 5/32" 3V, heat treated by Peter's to RC61
Handle: Resin cast Norway spruce pinecone from Ankrom exotics, white G10 liner, natural micarta pins and lanyard tube.
Sheath: Hand tooled leather
$235 shipped CONUS. Paypal, checks, money orders accepted. International buyers welcome, shipping extra.

Thanks for looking!

That is a very interesting blade.. the pine cone/resin is pretty slick. I am in Canada and would pick this up in a blink of an eye... if the exchange was a tad better.... :(.

Wow that is an awesome knife. And a huge bargain at that price!!

VERY nice! If I hadn't just purchased a Rockstead, this would be mine:)

Thanks guys! I wish I would have bought more of these pine cone scales they're not always in stock.

PayPal sent Robert!

I wanted to comment here for all you guys still stopping by to check out this great knife...I recently bought a bird&trout from Robert, and this awesome Hunter is now my second of his knives. I couldn't be happier with the bird&trout, every aspect of it is just flawless, & it's sharper than a knife should be allowed to be....and Robert is a true gentleman to deal with on top of being a gifted maker. This is my 1st pinecone scaled knife, & I have to agree that you waited for the right blade profile to marry it to - just amazing!

Nice score... If I hadn't overspent my budget I'd have been on this from the start. 3V nice and hard, with a thin grind... Should be awesome!

That is a great looking blade for sure. Just have a quick question on what finish did you apply to the handle? I am working with a sea shell, acrylic, resin cast and have never finished this kind of material. Thanks.

Hi Justin, sorry to be so late in answering your question. I just now saw that you posted this question in the thread. I finished it just like I normally do with stabilized wood. I initially shape it with a new sharp 80 grit belt on the 2X72 then all the rest by hand up to 1000 grit Redline Rynowet sandpaper. I did apply some Danish oil because some of the pinecone is exposed and I wanted to give it a little coating to try to preserve it.
