I have an old Corneta machete and loved the design of it so I made my own version out of .125 thick 3V with Paul Bos heat treat. Convexed ground bevels with final edge applied on a Sharpmaker. Overall it is 17 1/2in long. The blade is 11 11/16 long. Scales are natural canvas micarta with stainless tube fasteners. No sheath has been made for it yet but I can do a Kydex sheath for an additional $50. Price without sheath is $350***SOLD*** shipped in the US(USPS MO or Paypal+4%). Here is a pic of the machete with the Corneta that inspired it :)

That is great Bill!
I used to have that very same Corneta- in fact I may still, but if I do I can't find it.

Wish I could afford to replace it with your version, though!

Beautiful work...do you happen to know how much it weighs?

Also, I assume the knub at the bottom of the handle is to assist in holding the knife (so that it does not fly out of your hand)...Correct?

I don't have a scale so I do not know the weight and I am horrible with guessing weight but it feels lighter than my Estwing hatchet if that helps :) Yes, the handle shape has the knob to help with retetion. I have shaped it so it won't wear on the pinky as some of these designs can do.

That's it---when this went up, I told myself (jokingly, I thought) that I'd spent too much recently, but if this was still here in two weeks I'd grab it.

You goofballs had your chance. :D

Ha, when this went up I told my self, that is sweet. I don't have any money, but I still come back and lurk just to see who bought it.
