3V modified - The lost Crucible steel

as much as i loved 3v i had always thought the slight alloy tweak liike in the OP woudl have made it killer in knife world
 
Interesting comments. We still are a secondary part of these steels . Take a look at the company websites .PM steels are often mentioned in uses in the plastics industry such as augers [feed screws ] . Getting dealers together to get larger orders instead of bit by bit would help also .

We knife makers are a very small segment of what is already a niche market with these PM steels. I don’t know if this is accurate but what I heard is that the demise of crucible was caused in great part by the collapse of their biggest customers the US automotive industry back during the crash

If you want to dig deeper...look at their pension obligations plus debt plus loss of revenue to service debt/pension. Its never just one thing.
