So... I recently killed a little 6amp Porter cable... (R.I.P.)

It definitely lacked a bit if "balls" for lack of a better term, but I did have it for a while, and used it on many a different task and it always seemed to come through...

I have a 7" Bosch also, another old beater that still runs like a champ (for now), but I'm in the market for a new 4.5" lightweight grinder/cutter.

I've been reading reviews and such, "eyeball shopping", and i have a handful I've narrowed it down to as favorites, but nothing set in stone.

What do you guys like/think? Price range I'd like to stay arpund or under $150, but $200 max... I'm looking for something that can handle anything I throw at it without issue...
(And aiding in some future knife making could be a very real possibility as I get the new house and garage more and more in order).

The only piece of advice that I can give you is go with the 7 incher.

I bought the Dewalt 4 1/2 ". Cuts like it was made for it.Can't remember the amp rating, but it was about $100.
I have also burned up a cheaper model from H - F.

I work at a welding shop and have to supply my own 4 1/2" grinder. I use a dewalt 11 amp which was about $100, its butter smooth and has all the power you need, mine is still going strong after 2 years of HARD use! I also use a craftsman 8 amp which are around $60, really good grinder for the money, I usually get a year to a year and a half from them. Remember to use quality grinding discs and cutt off wheels. They are worth it and will extend the life of your grinder.

Get a grinder holder and it turns it into a mini metal chop saw. Grizzley makes one and you can find knockoffs on ebay. I'm grabbing one soon to make more precise straight cuts.

I've been considering the dewalt 11amp, along with Hitachi, Makita, and Bosch (to match my big boy).

Metabo always gets very strong positive reviews. They made my Ridgid grinder and I like it but I don't use it much.

I have two of the 11 amp Dewalt 4 1/2 inch grinders. I use them constantly and like how they function.
