This is a composite construction, with two twisted bars in the middle under the fuller and two straight laminate bars on the edges. There are 7 layers in each twist and 5 in each laminate.
The steel is 1080 and 15n20, with a curly maple handle.

Blade 12"
handle 6"

This thing feels really great in hand. It is light but powerful, and you can get a tremendous grip with this traditional handle. The bolster and pommel plate are also damascus. This is a through-tang construction, with a very sturdy tang.

This is a beautiful knife, the close-ups show the pattern well. I apologize for the full-length pics being out of focus.

I am asking $400.00. PM me if you want to make a serious offer, of if you have any other questions.

Thanks for looking,

Kevin

Thanks for that. I want to say that I had a creative fit about the handle. I made it more narrow to be more like traditional kindjals.

That is a beauty. Ill grab it if its available.

My grandfather is 95 years old and kicking strong Thank God, a jew that immigrated from northern turkey/southern russia to israel in early last century. We have some old pictures of the village protectors with very similar daggers in their belts in the few photos we have. very nice work.

Is this patterned after Turkish/Russian blade?

Yes - this is deliberately made like a traditional Russian / Turkish blade. I was copying tradition when I put the twisted bars under the fuller. That was the style south-central Eurasia (Cossacks, Turks, and several others that ended up in what was once the Soviet Union, mostly now still part of Russia).

It is yours, if you want. I will pm you, too.

I can put an edge on it and ship it on Monday.

that is mighty cool!
My father collects old swords and of all of them the Turkish Kindjal with a 20" blade seem like the best all-around tool/weapon. Great balance and versatility to that design!

A friend just brought me one from The Caucasus he got years ago when he was Ambassador to one of the former Russian states.
This one looks very nice indeed.
I know your work and this has to be marvelous.

OOOH, a lot of those originals are covered with silver and niello, and beautiful engraving (and worth 5-6K).

I really like both the double-edged kindjal and the single-edged "bebut" style. In fact, my avatar on this forum is a blade with a pattern-welded and twisted spine and mono steel edge for a bebut kindjal. That one hangs in the office of our governor's campaign manager.

This one is still available - I never received any personal communication. If interested send me a private message through the forum and I will send you a paypal invoice, or give you my address for a check.

thanks for looking.
