4 blems 10/19

EMS, thank you.
Now that there is the Deal of the day if you ask me! Wonderful knife. Forget that grain mark. Its Prolly just a lil red polishing rouge in a depression. Thats a magical length and weight for a Sirupati! Wait till you get to handle it! I have one myself! One of my favorites of all time. Grats on a great knife:thumbup::p

I am still awaiting the confirmation email so it's not a done deal yet. I'm really looking forward to it though, love my CAK but it does get heavy after a while. This guy will see some pretty heavy use so any minor defect is exactly that, minor. And the price? The stars have aligned.

I'm really interested to see what heavy uses you will come up with for your Siru, any ideas? To my eyes it looks a lot like my Gelbu Special (but what do I know!)

What size/weight is the CAK and how do you like it?

I'm thinking of something like that for heavier chopping/timber processing tasks...

Hoping for the BDC because I really would like to have a HI to carry around with me (the 12"-ers are a little big)
But it could be a Kagne Katne would work and scare the normies less... The lil guy looks tough though! I love that handle.
If Mr Ramojung gets the DD I won't cry I'll just put it towards the M42 with STWM written on it that will appear. gluck buddy.

Oh sure. I've got a cabin on 4 acres in the Sierras that I spend a lot of time at, also do a lot of multi-day camping through the mountains in the Jeep. Between the two it's often that I've got to collect and split/chop firewood, cut brush to make a path, that sort of thing. My CAK is 18" and a good couple lbs. Make no mistake, that knife is an absolute beast and can get the job done! It's a little too heavy for cutting brush out of your way, something a little lighter and longer would definitely be ideal here. Also if you're chopping through a 6" round you're acutely aware of the knifes weight once you're done.

I do wear it regularly while in the mountains. While they do usually try to avoid you, there are mountain lion and black bear in the area. Bear spray is the most ideal situation for both human and animal, but if it comes down to it I'm prepared. If I wore it down here in the city people would probably freak out, but up in the mountains nobody is freaked out in the slightest. Quite the opposite. I got my wife a Baby BDC for the same reason, she's not going to chop much of anything with it but she sure feels a little safer while out on the property.

Here's it is recently after I had a local leather maker make me a sheath for it. You can see it's not baby'd in any way. :D

Who ever gets that Siru with the red grain mark, that IS NOT a blem!! After dealing 45+ years in Americana, red grain marks like that in powder/salt/drinking horns can command a 20 to 40 dollar price increase. Such a mark is uncommon and was thought to bring good luck to the owner. Whoever snags that khuk definitely got a bargain.

Got the "Done deal" email

Interesting. I've got a Siru with a hairline crack and a red grain mark that I got as a blem.

There goes the unusual blems deals.
To quote Will Ferrell as Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights, " with all due respect, and remember I'm sayin' it with all due respect, that idea ain't worth a velvet painting of a whale and a dolphin gettin' it on." Thanks

Weather they add value or not I find natural grain marks and color variations appealing.

If the Corn Patch Kami says it adds value, that's a bonus and maybe I'll draw interest on it at the bank.

Yeah, the red in the grain almost had me pull the trigger on it as well. However, I'd made a large purchase earlier in the day. I'll post pictures when it arrives.

Me too. The length, weight and red mark almost made me pull the trigger, but I have too many knives that just arrived or are on the way.

w6fu - I'd love to see the baby BDC.

I'd love to see some pics of the red grain marks.

I can't wait to find out what BigBore's got coming soon!

In other news: I got my first "Long Gone".
It stings :)

I know what BigBore has coming and I promise you, you will be amazed. You should probably sit down when you see it.
It will be worth the wait, might be a bit, has a long way to travel.

Now, Umi.
You don't actually think poor ol' Bookie'd do something as harsh as that, now do you?
Hugs, Bookie

Good thing for me, you're usually the first responder on the scene.

Sorry for the Long Gone. :(

I'm hoping to have all the knives in one place this time next week, will take a picture of them all as one happy family.

Bookie - i have had nothing but good from interacting with you - great advice, and good reads.

I have a problem not saying something I see as funny.

I just dont want to insult ANY of my fellow forumites.

I did say "with all due respect"
