4 blems for 11/20 -- no pix but more fine deals.

Tidings all,
I received my first khuk about three weeks ago,Chiruwa AK, but hadn't been able to get out to test until today. I just came in from puting it to the test for the last four hours clearing trail. It went thru anything and everything up to about 4" with suprisingly little effort. When I got back in all I had to do was strop it using Yvsa's dowel idea and the hair shaving edge was back.
I am thinking that I would like another khuk which is a little lighter for regular carry in the woods. I'm leaning towards a WWII or a GS and am looking for others thoughts.

Try the BAS.

Sorry I can't help by buying the 15" AK blem and letting Yangdu put up a new set of four blems. I got the other 308 yesterday. Probably be solvent again in January.

Mountain,

Try a GS. They are a real good khuk. I use one for alot of things including Kitchen work. Even slice tomatoes with mine!
However, that 15"AK is a little on the light side at 22oz. Hmmmm,,,

I am waiting for the 17 " GRS. I know that 21 oz seems light for this style of khukuri, and I wonder if it is an accurate weight. I'll know soon and keep all of you posted.

Arty,

My BGRS by Bura which is the same length as yours weighs 22.5oz. So guess yours is right in the ballpark. Nice khuk.:)

Someone still needs to buy the last of these khuks ( 15" AK ) so Yangdu can post another four deals.

How thick is the blade on your Bura GRS, and how wide is the blade? Just curious.

Arty:

Don't know about Hoghead's, but mine is 3/8" across at the spine, 2 1/4" wide at the widest part, and 17.5" long. It falls right between the 1 1/2lb and 1 3/4lb marks on my postal scale. Yours sounds like it will be in the same ballpark and I believe you will be "pleased" when it arrives!

Thanks for the info on your GRS. I hope that mine turns out to be as nice as yours. It is a bit lighter, so it should be somewhat leaner.

Yangdu sometimes doesn't reply by e-mail. Your first clue you got it may be a green card in the mailbox telling you to come to the counter.

Arty, Its spine width is about 7/16" at the bolster and tapers to about 1/4" near the tip. Its 2 1/16" at the widest point across the flats.

Shadowraven,

Good snag. You'll like the 15"AK as its a great khuk. Have one by KNN that weighs 24oz. It's 3/8" at the bolster tapering to 5/16" near the tip. About 2" across the flats at the widest point. Enjoy.
