4 Blems for 5/25

Thanks ndoghouse! I'd love to hear more about the GS! I didn't know about the AK edge geometry, I'd love to hear more about it. I know the GS is very recommended - if you have a Siru and a Chit then I'm -very- pleased with my choice!
My 12" Pacthar and 14" Kobra whet my appetite for a "real" khukuri - a biggun! - I'm so pumped.

I'm selling off a benchmade to fund the purchase *sniff*

The Gelbu was designed to take advantage of speed for chopping rather than weight like the Ang Khola. To make it faster it had to be made lighter so that is the reason it has the deep full length fuller. Choppers need a thicker edge for strength so it has the same thick edge profile as the AK. Really a great design. The speed advantage helps a lot when you want to cut springy vines and stuff you dont have a solid backing behind for support while your chopping it. Kinda like trying to split wood on loose beach sand. Just dont work very well with a slow bulky axe. Speed is the answer to that problem.

The Gelbu Special arrived today. This is a VERY POSITIVE REVIEW. A bargain at three times the price. The spine is over 3/8" wide but it looks like an inch!
It begs to be used.

I am stunned. Yangdu's standards are _VERY_ high to call this a blem.
The fit of the brass at the handle/bolster has a tiny gap that I wouldn't even call a gap! Amazing quality.
Missing chakma as pictured (anyone got an extra?)...teeny tiny clip off the point.

But now for the important stuff:
I can't describe the incredible feeling of power you get when holding this blade.
The curves are beautiful, the double fullers and graceful lines are breathtaking.
It has a weighty feeling of authority. It is SHARP ! Very truly frighteningly sharp, not even kidding. Toothy, cutting sharp. I am not going to touch up the edge or do anything at all.

Lachhu did an amazing work I can tell he poured his heart and soul into this blade. Shames all my other blades (well not that beautiful Kumar Kobra).
Blade feels so solid. Handle is a perfect size, the ring swell in the middle fits like a glove. This was made for me..
I love the size. I could see how it could be too big for some people. It fits my big gorilla self perfectly.

Thank you Himalayan Imports! Thank you Auntie. Thank you Lachhu!

Humbled and Blessed,
St.Wm.

Lachhu does beautiful work, he is a Bura understudy. He seems to have his own interpretations on certainly handle designs especially noticeable on his AK Bowies. He also does some exceptional fuller work. I won't belabor the point we all know already, all HI Kami's are exceptional. Great score there, even better is your pleasure and ethusiasm from aquiring it.

Great background, I haven't seen Bura's work but based on his reputation Lachhu shows the hallmarks of his teacher! My Pacthar by him is lovely (but came dull) - so I feel this may represent him better.

I'm currently devising ways to use it - everything I see now says "Cut me."
