Thanks ndoghouse! I'd love to hear more about the GS! I didn't know about the AK edge geometry, I'd love to hear more about it. I know the GS is very recommended - if you have a Siru and a Chit then I'm -very- pleased with my choice!

The Gelbu was designed to take advantage of speed for chopping rather than weight like the Ang Khola. To make it faster it had to be made lighter so that is the reason it has the deep full length fuller. Choppers need a thicker edge for strength so it has the same thick edge profile as the AK. Really a great design. The speed advantage helps a lot when you want to cut springy vines and stuff you dont have a solid backing behind for support while your chopping it. Kinda like trying to split wood on loose beach sand. Just dont work very well with a slow bulky axe. Speed is the answer to that problem.
