Having been raised in the North I did not think the South offered much in the way of wilderness rather than swamps. It may not be as nice as the pics of the PNW you guys are lucky enough to live in, but its better than spending the weekend in Panama City. hope you guys enjoy. Dont mind the large pack i was carrying for two...

we all slept great at night. I have hiked with them in the local parks before and at night they will not sit still in the tent. On this trip they could not get in the tent fast enough at night. And never moved once they were in

Yeah it's nice down here. I grew up in CT and moved to FL for the warm weather. But after 15 years the beach got boring (Except for the bikinis.) I live about 30-40 min south of the base of the appalachian trail, its awesome. I use to hike it all the time up north. Thanks for the pics.

This is EXACTLY what I need right now. I haven't been camping since summer and even then it was at a packed campsite littered with trash and teens partying. I am eager to get out there with my dog too. Too bad that all the national forests in my area close the camp sites in November, and dispersed camping isn't allowed=/ I need to get the HELL outta this state. Thanks for the pics.

Great pics thanks for sharing. I also use that same MSR water filter I love it, my dog also caries the same pack!

Cool photos and a Great Looking German Shepherd

Mine loves hiking more than he loves to eat!!

I was just going to say that winter is the best time for campsites. That sucks they close up. My girl and I were in one at the coast and the only people who were there were in RV's and kept to themselves. We picked a spot away from the RV spots and had an entire loop to ourselves. Good times.

To the OP. Thanks for the pics.

Thanks for the compliments. The pictures were actually taken in Oct. It was not cold but was not hot either. We are planning a trip back in MARCH. It really was a great time. we only saw 4 other people the whole time. The only thing I did not like was the lack of wild life. We hardly even saw any birds. These are a few more I thought you guys might like

And this is what happens when I asked my wife to put my shoes by the fire to dry.

And her shoe problems did not stop there. She got about two miles before she felt something was wrong.

I wish I could take credit for this one but it was my wife. she has the quite the eye

Wow beautiful pictures (and dogs). At first when I seen the pictures i had to double check where they were from, i didnt think they were from georgia. Its very beautiful there! Those are some nice views to, that German Shepard is really cute.

Great pics Adam...need to ask if you're stationed down in PC or actually from there; my wife is from PC. What area did you guys hike? We've done several trips up in the NE of GA. It's nice to see some green and wet pictures...here in Kabul, Afghanistan, it's dry, dusty, cold, drab...blah :D

I feel your pain there. When I was in Irag and Afghanistan all I could think about was green and water. You keep your head down and get back soon.

I am just stationed in PC. I am a combat dive instructor for the USMC. I can't get out of here soon enough. We hiked panther creek falls in Eljay GA.

I knew that place looked familiar; that’s one of our favorite backpacking spots when we’re crunched on just a few days. I’ve got some posts and pictures buried here on WSS…

There are some nice looking spots east of PC towards Tallahassee. Search from some of kgd’s old posts within the last year…some pretty decent hiking/backpacking areas.
