4 day Hiking trip in N Georgia. Pic heavy.

I think you might be talking about Toria state park. It is near Blounstown. I don't mind it but they do not allow dogs, or harvesting of your own wood. I prefer to get out of FL. I am from up state NY and prefer the elevation.

How much longer do you have in the sand box?

Great Photos Adam! looks like you had fun and your wife made me laugh... Mine has a habit of making similar mistakes on our outings.

Yeah, that's it...didn't know about no dogs! I'm with you on a little elevation being from WA and plenty of time spent in the Cascades. I chose to do a little six month tour, so I'll be back in June...

That's a nice area. We live south of Atlanta and spend a lot of time around Fort Mountan between Elijay and Chatsworth. Haven't done Panther Creek, just the park so far. Murphy's a great hiker and really enjoys the outdoors 3 seasons of the year. He's a wuss when it comes to heat. First time I ever hiked with him, he took off when we stopped for lunch and ran back to the parking lot. He sat beside his door to the car and waited for us to come let him in and crank up the AC. There he slept the rest of the afternoon. In all fairness, it was in the high 90s that day and I was actually somewhat glad to have an excuse to "stay with him to make sure he was OK" while the rest of the family finished the hike.

Here he is at Fort Mountain:

Murphy is such a nice looking dog! I wish I had a canine hiking partner, someday I will.

Thanks. He is a great guy. He was #3 for us. We didn't plan on adopting him, he just rescued himself one Sunday morning when we parked at early church. Jumped in the car when my wife opened the door to get out and never left. Only 5 of my 63 years have been dogless and it'll never happen again.

He is obscenely strong and a willing worker. He has actually pulled my butt out of trouble on the trails a couple of times. I really love that Ruff-Wear harness he has on because it has a handle that I can hold onto and he guides me over rough spots on an unimproved wilderness trail or I can help him up and down over obstacles when necessary.

Looks like a great place to hike, I've been wanting to get down that way ever since ROCK6 did a post on a hike there. Thanks for sharing. The shoes issues were hilarious!
