Hey all! long time lurker first time poster
After studying my butt off i got accepted to a good college. So I decided that I was going to change my knife buying habits, give most of my knives to friends and have just four folders. I really want to focus on using and enjoying the knives I have as well as cutting down on the distractions that might impact my grades. I already have the fixed blades im keeping (BK11, BK9, ESEE-3) and I already know what guns I'm taking, but the folder problem seems beyond my powers of decision.
The catagories are as follow:
1) slippie
2)SD-oriented blade
3)Folding tank
4)Knife lovers knife
1) The slippie catagory is rough because I only have a SAK but other than that I have never owned a slippie. Im thinking eitehr the Case sway back jack or the queen workorse trapper. This will be my primary use knife and will be carried with me everywhere.
2) For my SD blade I have both a Spyderco P'kal with trainer and a Benchmade Bedlam.THey are both exceptional knives and I might break down and brign both. My benchmade is on a lanyard so its not visible in the pocket, however, the P'kal is smaller and mcgh more friendly looking IMHO.
3) right now I'm really leaning towards the Grayman Satu, just seems like a beast of a knife, however the three sisters super beast also has my eye. If the knife is too pretty or too expensive I wont use it. I know the new hinderer ZT is getting rave reviews but customs are so nice.
4) this si the fun one, a knife for just the pure joy of knife ownership. This is a knife to fiddle with and carry around and be in awe of its usefulness and simplistic beauty. Right now im kind of torn between a sebenza and a Paramilitary. However, any finely crafted knife that will give me pleasure will do. Whether its the pure slicing power of the Para or the fine finishing of the Sebbie. I'm kinda leaning towards the Sebiie because ive never had a user Sebbie before, but at the same time my usual get both mentality kinda defeats the purpose of posting this thread.
Thanks for any advice, I'm hoping that this little experiment will help me appreciate knives in a new more task oriented way.
