I am looking for a way to slow down my Grizzly 2 x 72 grinder, and was hoping to find a 4inch contact wheel with a 5/8ths arbor. Anyone know of a good place to look? Or a better way to slow down my belt? Thanks

Doc, on a Grizzly the contact wheel is the drive wheel.

CrookedPath - Try a place like Sunray for a custom wheel.

You could also buy an aluminum 4"X5/8" wheel from some place like USA Knifemakers or Beaumont. If you want to use it as a contact wheel, you can send it to Sunray or Rubercorp and have it rubberized.

Hah, good call Shane, on the KMG horizontal grinder's drive/contact wheel.

The questiom I have, since I've never owned or used a Grizzly, is will it still be "big enough" to use a 72" belt on. I figured it has some room to play with in the vertical arm with spring but I wouldn't have guessed it has that much. It may be an easy mod to make though if it doesn't. Just a thought...

It should have enough length to adjust the arm up that high. My grizz is gone now so I can't confirm it.
