4-Max concern

I know lot's of people like brute strength of overbuilt knives but it is more about, blade steel, ease of sharpening, ease of cleaning, fit and finish, tolerances and overall quality of the knife. If anyone needs to abuse or do heavy work why don't just use the fixed blade.Knife is a cutting tool not a prying bar or a hammer.Common sense.Cheers.

If that's true for you, more power to you, for others it isn't. Hell, ease of sharpening hasn't been a requirement for me for quite a long time now. I honestly regard fit and finish and tolerances as a simple pass/fail, they're either good enough or they're not. Once you get beyond good enough you're largely spending money on aesthetics that have basically no impact on performance. Buy the knives you like, don't worry so much about what others prefer.

It's really only legal in rural or light suburban areas. Carry a fixed blade in LA or SF and you'll get the LAPD/SFPD on your ass. I've heard of people spending the night in jail since they carried a 3.2in folder in SF

You really have to live here to understand the atmosphere. There are many young liberals who shriek at the sight of any "weapon" and they love calling the cops about every little thing. My friend had the cops called on him since he had a 2nd amendment bumper sticker and the woman behind him on the hwy followed him for 10min and called the cops stating he probably had illegal weapons.

Wow! That's absolutely insane! I hope she was charged for wasting their time, and I'm sorry you have to deal with that atmosphere. Not even Canada is that bad. I never thought I'd be saying this, but things are a little more laid back here, though almost nobody understands our weapons laws beyond "don't carry them"; knives are invariably seen as weapons by most people.

I wonder how long it'll take before society destroys itself with the direction it's going in...but I suppose that's a topic for another forum.

Lol CA is very interesting though- think of it as many pockets of different cultures/political stances in every city. My neighboring cities contrast red and blue- like palo alto has your typical wealthy Californians- enjoy shooting and fine dining in the weekends who drive super cars, next door is east Palo Alto, a mess (getting better) and the people there are very anti-gun/knives. I notice it's the poorer areas that are more focused on anti-violence/weapons ordinance because they experience it more often. I live in the heart of the Silicon Valley so most cities around me are at least affluent so the police are very lax and understanding of knives. At the end it really just depends on the area.

My friend was in jail a night and had a mugshot taken. He was in Redding which is a minimum 2hrs drive away from us without traffic. He had no weapon on him so they charged him with resisting arrest even though they didn't tell him what he was being pulled over for. He thought it would be a traffic violation, but they slapped cuffs on him. It also doesn't help too much that he's from China and only lived in the US for 2 years, but that one experience has turned him off seriously :thumbdn:

If you've lived here for only 2 years you better keep your nose clean.

Sounds like y'all need to head south for freedom and the ability to carry about anything. .....

Not worth it, I'm sure other places are great especially with gun/knife laws, but you can't beat the opportunities, weather, and culture that California has to offer.

Except for that whole, southern CA is a desert and is unreasonably populated :D

Come to Vermont! We let you have most any knife (no autos over 3", that's all), and still liberal haha

Honestly, I just want the 4-max to come out for the comparison video... I'll never have the money for a knife line that! Me. Demko has earned my respect though, and it looks like a great knife, that retains the rare attribute of looking like it will cut well, as well as being overbuilt.
