almost ready....the rasp file is a Save Edge and I have no clue what steel is used, even contacted Russ at Save Edge and he would not give up the type of steel either he only said they make good knives

I helped a guy make a tomahawk out of a save edge rasp 2 weeks ago and it would not harden... I heated to non-magnetic and quenched in 125 degree oil..A file would still bite very easily...We tried it twice :grumpy: ...Hope that you have better luck with yours..

Have to be careful with Rasps, many are case hardened. I would really like to see these after polishing!!
