4 of my favorite Benchmades

755 is my favorite of all. I love it's blade design and the blade is thick. Combined with the Ti lock that you grip and make even sturdier, it just has the looks and feel. Sounds great locking up, too.
I've read of some having issues with blade-centering and lock-up, but my example is perfect. Whenever I show it to a person that isn't into knives, they always say it's "scary" or "you could rip a mother@*#er wide open with that"!
As much as I griped about that knife, I have to admit, it cuts better than my Strider WP-C with the 1/4" thick spine. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was the 755 that cut my thumb from the the front to the nail at the tip.

My four favorites from the ones I own
1 940 osborne axis lock
2 921 switch back axis lock
3 740 DejaVoo
4 556 mini-grip

I Want An Onslaught, And A 530, My Friend Had A 530 Up For Trade, But Alas, I Didn't Get It.
Maybe I'll Find One.

What model is this one?

That would be the 740 Dejavoo.

My favorites would be the 741 Onslaught and 746 Mini-Onslaught.

My favorites (940 series. These are older, using CM154. S30V would be nice, but I have two perfectly good knives with CM154):

Love it, but too big for my EDC (730 Aries limited run with M2 tool steel/Carbon fiber scales):

I want a 755 and a 530 to add to my collection, just great looking folders. I own only 1 BM and its a 551SBKSN, great knife, tied with a CRKT Apache II for my favorite.

Hi Jill -

Thank you for your picture and thoughts.

I have been impressed with the Benchmade Knives I have been able to own and / or handle.

I appreciate seeing the knives compared and with insights from someone who uses the knives and knows the nuances.

I also really like the axis lock on the BMs. I might have to pick up an Onslaught based on your post.

best regards -

That would be the 740 Dejavoo.

Thanks. I looked up both the Dejavoo and the Onslaught. The Onslaught does look good. I found an incredibly good deal, so I ordered one. The Rukus is one of my favorite knives, and I'll be interested in how it compares with the Onslaught.

Jill, how well does the 755 cut through card board, zip ties, etc, with the thick blade? I love the knife, just hesitant to drop that much money on something I won't use at work.

Thanks!

The 755 cuts very well for such a thick blade, I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's easy to sharpen, takes a nice edge fast.

My 755 MPR may become my all-time favorite EDC - it is ~1.5 yr into that quest now - long way to go to top a Buck 110, however. The plain 630 Skirmish is my favorite BM (The only one I have two of!), then my 755, followed by my 610 Rukus, then my fickle fourth place. I can't choose - newbies, like the 480-1 Shoki and 581 Barrage are contenders, while older models like my 710 and, more recently, 760 are in there, too. If I ever get brave and de-assist my 795 Subrosa, it'd get more consideration. I also have 'short' versions of some of my favorites - I just like the regular ones better. The mini-Bone Collector in walnut, 15030-2, is really a nice package - my wife has one, too - as her EDC.

One way to never worry over the clips and their location - remove them, as I do, and stow them in the box! I like 'pocket' knives.

Great choices, Jill! My 755 does everything - open the mail - cut-out coupons, rip open packaging, reduce boxes (I leave big boxes for a disposable blade box cutter.), even cutting food. S30V was my favorite metal - M390 is a contender. The 755 has been easily re-edged on the white files of my Sharpmaker. Hmmm, the newbies - 480-1 & 581 are M390...

Thanks jill! I think ill have to pick one up, love frame locks and I am impressed with my spyderco m390 mule, but I can't justify caring a fixed blade around at work (which ironically is where I do the majority of my cutting).

Great pictures Jill, nice collection you have there. I wish I could have picked up a PE 610.

My favorite benchmade that I own has to be a toss up between the 741 and the 755. They really need to bring back the rukus!!! I want one sooo bad and I don't want to pay 400 for one...

Sick knives.

unfortunately for me even though I've had Benchmades for over 10 years... I didn't become a "knut" until a couple years ago. All of that money I spent when I was single.... Aside from the 755, which I haven't handled are amazing knives.
