This was a fun experiment. I had two friends in my forge a couple of weeks ago and we experimented with different pattern welds. This knife is from a 40 layer billet that I tooled for raindrops using a large bit, it produced a lot of swirls and a few bulls eyes but no raindrops although I really like the way it turned out.
15N20 and 1084 high carbon steel
Heat treated to Rc 58-60 using my Evenheat furnace with attention to a fine grain structure throughout the blade
Flat grind with forged texture on the flats
Professionally stabilized maple handle. There are a few small worm holes but they have been filled.
Overall length: 13 inches
Blade: 7 3/4 inches
Leather scabbard with a belt loop for a right hand carry
