40 miles in the Wind River Range to Titcomb Basin

That is some beautiful scenery! Thank you for sharing your vacation with us. Great pictures

That is amazing! Very beautiful pictures  I see you are wearing a short sleeved shirt but there is snow on the ground. . . . is it cold there?

Everywhere but right at the end on the hike was pretty temperate. The nights were about 35-40 and the days were about 60-75 depending on whether the sun was shining on us and the elevation. In Titcomb basin, the wind was whipping and the clouds were out so it was "freezing" (about low 40's). The snow was getting soft because some of the day time temps were reaching the mid 70's. My friend actually sunk in to his waist with one step...kinda dangerous to be out on some of those snow banks!

 beautiful scenery! looks like you had a good time!

the terrain almost looks similar to some areas where i live - although it is sad that camping and fire is prohibited everywhere around here - because the country is so small every stretch of land seems to be privately owned

Wow that is insane! I would not have thought the temperature was in the 60-70's. He sank into the snow? Now THAT would be frightening

Nice pics of a what sounds like a great trip, congratulations. The "not packing food in" idea is very good practice for living off the land and saving weight, but could be very risky too if one was to get injured before being able to forage. The 1311 was an excellent choice!

Beautiful pictures and country. That trip had to be a blast! Thanks for posting them!
I don't know what those remains are, but that pelvic bone looks a lot like a cows.

Outstanding trip. Every now and then I think about picking up a BWM, how did it do compared to the 1311?
Love the dog in your avatar, how come he did not come along?

Many thanks. That is a picture of my pup Murf, who passed this past January. He was a full blooded Brittany

My friend Brandon always brings the BWM. He likes it because its got the power to process some serious wood yet isn't as heavy as the FBM or NMFBM. I bet ( and I don't know for sure) that it would weigh less than the NMFSH. Maybe someone will weigh in on that. But like I said, at about 22-23oz it's a great knife for our needs. I owned a BWM for a while but found myself turning to the lighter B11, dog father or now the 1311. They weigh in between 17-18oz. I'm an ounce counter and a qtr pound over 40 miles make a difference (sort of :) )
