I became Musical Director when Spark took the place over and started a thread something like, "What can we do to improve this place?"

Well, with my characteristic dry whit, I replied that what we needed was something that would add class and sophistication, even elegance, something that would distinguish bf.c as the premier knife discussion board. And my proposal: a marimba band!

But, there's lots of marimba bands in the world. We want something distinctive. So, I further proposed that it be a Marching Marimba Band (If you don't know what one is, a Marimba is a very large instrument that weights 600-1000 lbs., so, marching with one would be very difficult. But, there is actually one real marching marimba band in the world).

So, I was promptly promoted to Musical Director and given the task of organizing BF.C's Own, the internet's only Marching Marimba Band.
