Just double checking, 410 will work ok for liners and bolsters on my slipjoints, right?

Is it solder-able with the same solder and flux I was using with my nickel silver hardware? I don't have a spot welder. It's the sta-brite silver solder from Tracy.

Sta-brite is one of the best.....will work well for NS & 410SS.

BTW....are you HT'ng your 410..?

I've brazed 416 to 416. You can use the sta-brite flux and silver solder if that's what you have, but I found that the flux they supply isn't the greatest for stainless.
I use ez-flow silver solder and stay-silv black flux and it works way better.
It can be done though. Just clean everything really, really well.

Russ, I hadn't planned on it. I was just looking to switch from ns to stainless and Alpha Knife Supply had very good prices on 410 and in the sizes I'd need.

I use 410 for liners and 416 for bolsters and pins. I have soldered a bunch of it together. I use the sta-brite solder and flux.
The hardest part is to not overheat, and clean, clean ,clean.

410 is meant to be heat treated. When received it's around Rc25, but can be HT'd to Rc 40-42, and
will be more resiliant, and more corrosion resistant....and can be soldered with a silver bearing solder
without losing much hardness if (as said) it's done very carefully.
