416 Stainless, Where do I buy it?

I cant seem to find any .125" sheet. I only need about 12 sq. inches. Mcmaster Carr doesnt carry it either. It has to be 416 because I'm picky that way.

Have you tried Crucible..? It seems one of the forumites mentioned
buying quantity from them.....and it wouldn't take that much 416 to reach
their min. order of $75.00.

I was thinking if you only need 12sq inches let me know if you would want me to send you a piece of .138 410

Bruce, Chuck Bybee told me that there isn't much in the way of .125 out there. he was looking to go over to just carrying 410, but there was a great hue and cry from us knifemakers, so he will continue to offer 416 in the sizes that he can get. I have been grinding down 3/16 a bit for some buttcaps lately, which is wasteful, but I want it to match the rest of the fittings. Where i really miss the 1/8 416 is for spacers on smaller knives.
 
I ordered some 1/8" 416 from Sheffields probably a month ago. I ordered bar stock and I don't know if they have it in wider than 1 inch, but you might try em. I called a dozen places looking for 1/8".

Crucible doesn't sell 1/8" directly they sell it to suppliers was the story I was given. All of their suppliers were out. Admiral said I would have to order approximately a semi load to get the 1/8"

I got a 1/8" by 2" piece from Texas Knife a few months ago and I know Tracy Mikley had some but I don't recall thickness or width... bar stock, not sheet, for sure.

Tru Grit in California has it, I order 3/16" and 1/8" barstock from them in different
widths. Sure would be nice be able to find it in sheet stock in 416 though.

AKS sometimes has 410 sheet in 12"x12" sheets you may want to give Chuck a call and ask him, they also have 410 pins.

www.onlinemetals.com has .125 410 SS sheet if you can get the pins from AKS and they happen to be out or wrong size 410. FYI 12"x12" = $97
They will specialty cut to the size you want also.

They did not have 410 pin stock that I saw.


Sheffield does list 416 flat bar 1/8" x 1 1/4" & 1/8" x 1" also if that is wide enough for your purpose.

This does help if Chuck still has 410 pins.
Interesting pricing because 12 x 12 is $97 and 12 x 24 is $120. Quanity pays off big.
