So what is the difference between a BM 42 and a BM 42A? On the Benchmade web-site, it's $10. But other than that, what is the diff?

The "A" in 42A stands for anodization, which means that the handles have been anodized to a certain color and I think blue is the only available one now.

The silver is the BM42 and the blue one is the Anodized BM42A.

Also, if there's an S added at the end, that means Serrated. So the blue one is actually a BM42AS.

BTW I wanted to ask a question while this is a BM42 topic:

I heard the anodization on the BM42A is tacky and it wears of. Does that mean that it will eventually look like the original BM42?? Will it be smudgy and scratchy or shiny and grey like the original BM42 after the color wears off? I wanna know because I bought a BM42A but I think I like the original Ti color better but I don't have the money to buy another one right now.

Any anodization will wear off with use...... The anodization you see is only a few millionths of an inch thick; the color is caused when the light reflects off of the surface that's anodized and is seen by the human eye in that particular wavelength or frequency. Oil on the surface will change the colors you see..............

Yikes, I dont mean to sound like a party pooper, but these questions have been asked a million times already.

The search function is great to discover new things or answers about balisongs.
