Just got one of those new Cold Steel OSS Black Bear Classic copies made with "sub-zero" quenched 420 J2 stainless. After everything I've ever heard about 420 J2, I was expecting this knife to be a major POS and the only reason I got it was to do some tests just to see... Well, not only was I NOT disappointed in the performance, I was actually amazed!!!! I will be posting a full review in a few minutes on the Reviews forum...

It's not 420J2. It's 420HC.

Mr. Allen, you are quite possibly correct. In the catalog it just states "420 sub-zero quench" which I probably interpreted as J2.
What is the difference between J2 and HC (if you can eloborate...)?
