440C for general purpose?

I am not adamant about 440C. It just happens to be the steel of a friends knife I am considering buying. It's no bargain if it is junk. :)
 
My 33 year old Buck Pathfinder is 440C and is still going strong. :thumbup:

That's cool ... maybe your friend will let you borrow it, check it out for yourself?

FWIW some of the best 440C knives I've ever seen were Bucks made in the 1970's, which will take and hold a very good edge. If your friend's knife happens to be one of these, I'd probably grab it.

Edit to add: yeah, same thing as TAH's saying!
