440c

I only have experience with 440C from several Benchmades and 1 Spyderco and like it a lot. IMO, Benchmade in particular (since I've used their 440C a lot more, and only used the older version Spyderco Meerkat a bit) really knows how to heat-treat the 440C.

One of my daily carry knives is an Axis TSEK 805 with 440C blade, and I actually like the steel better than a lot of other higher-end steels, though the edge-holding is not as good, obviously, as S30V, VG-10, etc. It takes a great edge and holds it fairly well, and is easy to resharpen. In my own experience, Benchmade's 440C holds an edge better than a lot of manufacturers' AUS-8, for example.
