440v for big tactical blades?

I've seen that many custom makers use for their relatively large
(up to 6 1/2'') tactical knives CPM 440V steel. I don't sure that's good idea because the poor touchness of 440V. Or I'm wrong?
Anybody have experience with such knives? What do you think about?

I stay away from it, I haven't seen any I can get thicker than 1/8".

I think for a big blade which may see some chopping duty, it may have a tendency to "edge-chip". It may be much better as a cutter or slicer.
