447 or 943 or 940-1

MadIndian, let us know some first impressions when you get it. I personally think you made a great choice, but do add the 940-1 to the stash too when you get a chance.

I have the 943 and it is a great EDC knife!
I am waiting for a 940-1 just because of the premium materials not really because of the blade shape actually

I carry a 940 most of the time and was lucky enough to pick up a 940-1, actually #32 of first production run, be careful mail ordering because many have off center blades and have to be returned for tuning( I had to ), its been mentioned on the forum but I actually sold mine because the S90V was an oddball to sharpen, I would switch up different finish stones, ceramics, balsas, or leather strops and it would always be shaving sharp but not the crazy sharp my S30V OR M390 take with 1/3 the effort and I promise its not my first I have been using a wicked edge for several years and I am pretty picky about my edges. Anyone who sharpens a lot knows what I mean some blades just don't cooperate and the effort exceeds the results, but the knife was gorgeous and super light. I vote 940.

great info! thank you very much

the large emissary showed up yesterday, i'll take pics later but man is this thing impressive and more than I ever expected

Ok so some first impressions when I got the 943 compared to my grip it was real slender almost felt small but it feels great in hand and the action was to me better than the grip and the sound of the blade locking had a more solid sound and boy does the 943 ever carry nice in the pocket. I've carried the 943 a few times and it is a great edc and so far its not been seen as "scary" just nice.

Then I got the large emissary

This thing impressed me the minute it was out of the box, the feel, the weight and for a second I forgot it was assisted... oh man, the slightest pressure on the thumb stud and it flies out and I mean flies but funny thing is if I try to flick it sometimes it doesn't open or open fully but I'm good with the pressure, man is it impressive. The sound when it opens, I'm not sure exactly how to describe it beyond saying its solid and borders on confidence inspiring. I was a little bummed that the axis lock doesn't release the blade for one handed closing like the 551, 556 & 943 I have but that's hardly an issue and really for the way it sounds when it opens it deserves a two handed closing :-D

and then something funny happened I started carrying the grip yesterday and today in place of my regular utility blade and I've suddenly gotten a new appreciation for it despite the I don't want to say cheap so cheaper sound. For instance my Kershaw volt ss sounds more solid but it most certainly doesn't perform like the grip as I've learned over the last few days :D

Since I gave my daughter the mini grip here's my current lineup

So in closing I don't think I'll get a new 940 maybe a nice user one day just to have it but its not on the current want list, I do think the 940-1 would be nice being its different enough but I think I may go for an Adamas next I don't have a heavy use folder and I love the looks of the Adamas not that I need it with my fixed blades but ya know :D

I just wanted to chime in here as I have Bikedaddys(thanks for a great transaction!) old 940-1. I've been carrying the knife almost every day in my pocket with out the clip and its damn near perfect for my needs. I agree with his assessment that S90v is an odd steel. I freehand sharpen on a Spyderco fine ceramic(around 2k grit) and cannot get the hair splitting polished edge that I would get out of a S30v or 154cm steel. However the 940-1 maintains a very sharp edge for what seems like forever. Cardboard, apples, packages, zipties, anything that I would come across in a normal day, the knife is a pleasure to carry and use.

I wear a suit four days a week and a thin profile and lightness are what I value more that that "extra" level of sharpness.

I got the Adamas last night, its a hell of a present

I've never been able to justify this thing but I knew after seeing this vid 2yrs ago I knew I had to have it one day and I'm sorry I waited
