.45 ACP vs 9mm vs .38 Special

You not supposed to put it to your shoulder like you would a rifle under the law.

I can easily fire it one handed, but I rarely do, you use two hands just like you do with a more conventional pistol.

You'll have to extrapolate a little here.

With fixed sights like on your .357, you need to find a load that shoots to point of aim, and stick with it. I`m pretty lucky with my .38, I shoot the cheaper 130 gr loads, but the better quality 125 gr loads shoot to the same point.
thanks John. i am going to give it a shot (no pun intended).

You won't regret it, I love mine. I normally shoot 180-210 JHP bullets and find recoil to not be a concern. I have played around with heavier bullets and found the recoil to be manageable but not something I can honestly say I enjoyed after a couple cylinders. I'm a huge Elmer Keith fan and know everyone says you need a heavy(240gr and up) bullet to be effective but I've seen what the 180 gr does to whitetail deer and feel confident it is more than adequate for anything I will encounter.
The price in my local shop seems actually pretty reasonable, based on what i've seen. but, with that said, it is still pricy. $915. time to start saving my pennies. thanks for the info.

For those that want something really spicy - how about an AR-15 pistol?

I gave in and bought a Rock Island CS 1911 yesterday. I opted for the Rock series standard model, with the the GI safety and dove tailed blacked out sights. It feels great in my hand. I gave it a good cleaning and need to find some time to get to a range. Very, very nice handgun. I have high hopes for it.

200 Rounds down range yesterday. I had field stripped and cleaned her before shooting, but a detail strip was in order. The RIA CS is very very accurate. My friend is a Marine who during his service was a firearms instructor. His first magazine was through one tight grouped hole. I was in the black, but spaced. She shoots to point of aim, recoil is not hard, but the big .45 does move her around a bit so more trips are needed to get used to keeping her more on target for faster follow-up. All was not perfect, she has some failure to extract issues. This happened with multiple magazines and more as she got hot from firing and dirty. I cleaned her this morning and stripped the slide. Gave a good cleaning to the firing pin and extractor channels. I have not detail stripped a 1911 frame yet, and chickened out on it this morning. I will put my 15 yo son on the case. 30 minutes on You Tube and he will be a pro at it, then he can teach me. Nice having a young genius in the house.

The star of the show, again, was my 3" SP101. What a nice gun to shoot. I only took 50 rounds of 158 grain .357 magnum with me, but what a hoot to shoot! I replaced the stock grips with Houge Monogrips, which makes shooting the .357 rounds very possible, and , more so, easy.

A couple more trips with the RIA CS. Hopefully she will work things out. If not, I will exercise the warranty, which is said to be very good. I want this gun to run 100% and hopefully find a place on my hip.

Sounds very promising, keep us informed on how it works out. I agree on the Hogue mono grips, I put at set on my .44 magnum, they really help.

Please forgive the other makers knives. Not sure if that is frowned on here.

I like them all. I shoot the 45 tighter, but enjoy carrying the 9mm Shield more. I have been considering the 38 again but it is usually in the car anyways.

Just a few pics
